I've been tagged by Jodi, who says I spend too much time keeping up with Paris Hilton, and posting photos on Flickr, so she's hit me with TWO memes! Actually, she didn't say that, I just decided to do some shameless Flickr self-promotion here. Can't help it, I'm an addict!
First the RULES!
1. Each person tagged - if they want to play along - has to write about 5-10 songs that had an impact on them in their life.
2. They should link back to me as well as Jodi.
3. Then, if so inclined, tag five more people.
I've got well over 500 LPs, 45s and CDs, so it's difficult to narrow this down to a number. Plus my tastes have changed a lot over the years. In any event, five songs that have had an impact (not necessarily my favorites)....
1. Lonely Teardrops - Jackie Wilson. Can't listen to Jackie Wilson without becoming a child all over again. My parents loved this guy's stuff.
2. I Wanna Hold Your Hand - The Beatles. Saw them do it on the Ed Sullivan Show and became a fan forever.
3. Cum On Feel The Noize - Slade. My all-time favorite song throughout the 70's. Drinking beer in the park, "almost" getting in trouble on a regular basis, girls, etc.... When Quiet Riot did their version, I wrote to Slade and begged them to sue!
4. Fight The Power - Public Enemy. My militant period.
5. Twilight - Delerium. No words, but the song speaks to me. These days it's Delerium, Amethystium, Mythos, Enigma....and old Motown stuff.
I think I've already done the Eight Random Facts meme, but let's see if I have eight more!
1. I've only smoked once, didn't inhale :)
2. Never owned a dog or cat. I think pets are unpredictable, even if they know you.
3. Priorities. If my computer breaks down, I'll get another one tomorrow even if it means going into debt. My bed, on the other hand, has a piece of rotting plywood between the mattress and box spring to prevent me from falling to the floor.
4. Apparently, I'm lactose intolerant.
5. I hold the world's record for being chased home by stray dogs as a kid.
6. I floss twice a day.
7. Crazy people like to sit next to me on the subway.
8. I didn't realize I was this boring until I tried coming up with eight random facts (thanks, Jodi, LOL!)
I won't tag anyone this time, but you're all free to pick it up and run with it if you like.

Sweetie, I think that number 5 is the real reason for number 2...maybe?
I would have such a hard time coming up with 5 songs but one would be Thunder Road for sure.
Fun post :)
Should your blog friends start a fund to buy you a new bed?
L - I'm not sure about #'s 5 and 2. I just don't have a rapport with animals in general.
I'll probably wait until I'm actually touching the floor before I get a new bed, LOL!
OK, I think you really need to get a new bed. ASAP!
p.s. - I couldn't think of 5 songs if my life depended on it. And the flossing twice a day...I feel really bad about myself now. :)
R - The thing is, there are places that will deliver a new on the same day, LOL!
I'd probably pick five different songs if I answered it right now. There are just too many songs in my head.
im with layla..I can't think of how boring my life would have been without my pets..although this new kitty is stretching the limits of his little fucked up life..
I don't think I could narrow my list of songs to just 5..harlem nocturne...a taste of honey, cry, cry baby,etc...
you need a new bed my friend..
I say wait till the crash landing happens to get a new bed. . . that's what I would do. . . and if that's not incentive enough, it makes for an interesting story:)
JS - Go ahead, he's got nine of them :)
Ini - That's a possibility! Although it's fairly stable with the wood in there.
Oh and about the animal thing. . .you need to meet Mr. Wednesday! He might convince you that you really are an animal lover deep down!
Forget the new bed. Computers are the top priority!
I think there's only one song that's had a profound influence on my life, and that would be the one about the pocket calculator, but unless you have the version I heard, it loses all meaning.
And btw, Quiet Riot did a MUCH better job.
